Character Details
Canon Point: End of S1
Species: Altean; basically a human-like alien race that hails from the former planet of Altea. They possess minor shapeshifting abilities (the ability to change height and skin colour primarily), are shown to have above average strength, and Allura is able to tap into her life energy (known as quintessence) and use it to heal...at the expense of her own health (think of it as giving blood basically).
Timeline of Important Events in Canon History:
Personality:
As the last female Altean alive, Allura doesn't simply hold the title of being the Princess of Altea, but she also must bear the weight of her people's legacy on her brow, a fate far more heavier than her crown once entailed, and that is the main drive behind Allura's character.
To her, even though the complete and utter annihilation of her planet and race had happened over 10,000 years ago, after being induced to a cryogenic sleep by her father in order to save her, the loss of Altea is still fresh in her mind and thus, affects much of Allura's character. As such, Allura presents herself oftentimes with a maturity far beyond her years. Having been trained at a young age, both in diplomacy and in military training, Allura is a skilled diplomat and tactician, taking her role as the remaining royal of Altea very seriously, and proving to be a very sufficient, worthwhile leader in the wake of her father's death. She is unafraid of facing dangerous situations, and plays an active role in the team despite not being a paladin of Voltron. She is the one who pushes her paladins to train, to an extent that others may find harsh, but she also does realize she must ensure unique training tactics to encourage teamwork (for example, initiating a food fight with the intention of showing that the paladins can work together as a team against a "common enemy").
She is not the sort of person who will sit back and allow others to do work for her, but will instead insist on taking charge in dangerous missions herself, even when her safety would otherwise be compromised. This isn't to say she has a death wish, but that she is someone who will act on her responsibility even if others worry for her safety on her behalf. For example, she does not hesitate to land on a large animal-planet known as a 'Balmera' to help escort its natives to safety -- even if that means diving headfirst in the midst of a firefight. She is unafraid of sacrificing herself for the greater good and for those she cares about, as evidenced at the end of episode 10 where, under duress and knowing that there was no way for both her and Shiro to escape, she sacrifices herself to ensure her friend's safety. And again, on the Balmera, she pushes her abilities to their very limit in order to revive the dying creature, despite knowing that it will leave her in an extremely weakened state. She is a young woman able to make tough decisions, even if they are emotionally taxing, she demonstrates the ability to steel herself and go through with it, if it means success for the mission at large.
However, Allura is not entirely straitlaced or even as levelheaded as she attempts to put on. For starters, while it may seem that she takes herself and her role as the Princess of Altea seriously, Allura is still a young woman, and her personality still reflects the levity that comes with youth despite seemingly losing everything. She knows how to have a good time, and she is a personable individual that, while she is the leader of the team, she is also capable of being her teammates friends as well. She is kindhearted and warm in personality, and, provided that a person is not working for the enemy, she often does give strangers the benefit of the doubt and would be the first to try to approach a potentially hostile situation in a diplomatic and kind way. She trusted a shady individual, Rolo, and the rest of his small crew, with offering her and her paladins' assistance to fix their broken ship, and she also acted graciously to the Arusians, the natives of the planet her Castle was built on, by inviting them to the Castle for a celebration despite knowing that opening her doors to outsiders may bring about intruders. As evidenced above, she is hardly a pushover, but will not be the sort of person to intentionally antagonize anyone either.
Allura also can be a bit brash in personality as well. As Princess, she is unafraid to speak her mind, and can sometimes even come across a little blunt (upon waking up after 10,000 years of cryogenic sleep, she still has it in her to comment on how 'ugly' Lance's ears are). Just as she is someone who is able to make tough decisions, she is also someone who will tell it like it is. Allura also sometimes reacts poorly in tense situations that catch her off-guard, and although she presents herself as the leader, and as someone who can hold it all together and who knows what she's doing, the reality is...she doesn't know everything, and it frightens her. She is someone who tries to remain strong so that when others look to her, they see a paragon of strength in a time of strife, and it is a personal sacrifice of her own emotional stake that she implements on herself. However, by being rather guarded in her emotions, it can oftentimes backfire. She misses her father dearly, to the point where she was easily manipulated by her father's corrupted AI, even if she found the strength and responsibility in her to destroy the last of her father's memories for the sake of others' safety. She is also bent on having her revenge against Zarkon, a desire that can leave her unthinking at times, for when she later confronts him she doesn't hesitate to rush at him in a rather violent burst of anger despite knowing very well it would be a fruitless endeavor.
In short, Allura tries to epitomize what is expected of her as not only being the last of her species, but as the leader of the group of people who will, hopefully, save the galaxy. She is diplomatic, tactical, and serious, but also kind and youthful. Sometimes, her emotions get the best of her even when she tries to steel them away, and in truth...she's still hurting from the loss of her entire way of life, but it trying to keep up hope that she will succeed in freeing the galaxy from Zarkon's Galra Empire.
Abilities, Magic and Supernatural Skills/Afflictions:
As stated in the species section, as an Altean, Allura has abilities that are (as far as we know) linked to both her race and her status as royalty.
-She has minor shapeshifting abilities, primarily in being able to change her height and skin colour.
-She is also shown having super-strength (in comparison to what would be expected from a human), as demonstrated by being able to throw grown men and robots as though they weight like nothing.
-As a member of the royal Altean line, Allura is also in-tune with her and others life energy known as quintessence: the Castle-ship is shown being only able to function by utilizing her quintessence, and in canon she is shown healing a planet-sized creature known as a Balmera in the throes of death by accessing and imbuing her quintessence into the creature, although in turn it saps a lot of her quintessence out of her and she needs time to heal (like a blood donor needing time to recuperate after giving blood). However attempting to heal the Balmera could have possibly killed her due to the size of the creature and the damage inflicted upon it.

HEEDING THE CALL
[She knows loss. She feels it. In the shadow of a beast which blocks the sky. In the white-hot orange glow seen from the hull of her father's spaceship as Altea and its people burn, destruction imminent.
Allura knows loss. She knows it well. But here, the pull of the cavern, where she finds herself crouching and holding a small warm egg in the palm of her hand, she feels...as though there is something to be gained. That this is right, that this is hers, and there is a swelling urge in her heart and in her minds eye that whatever lays within this egg, shimmering slightly from what little light the cavern offers, is...well, it's not hers, but it's a connection she hasn't felt in a long, long time.
Or what feels like a long time. It draws her in with the same energy as the lions, a point of light in a world that otherwise feels empty and foreign, her being out of place and out of time once more. Risen, resurrected.
She holds her breathe at the first sign of movement, and then when a crack forms her eyes widen, and she sits cross-legged on the floor, so as to keep the distance from her hand to the ground short in case whatever it is in this egg accidentally tumbles out. She's not sure if she should help it, and with each small crack she traces her thumb over it, but something keeps her from prying, keeps her from helping, knowing that the creature within must do this on its own.
Or else...or else...it will be very cross with her. Or a feeling that resembles being annoyed.
So she sits there, for what feels like an eternity, until the shell finally breaks, and the reptilian long maw of her dragon's snout pokes through, sniffling wetly at the air before biting at the shell, cracking it further until its able to see, to look at her with wide wet eyes. The eggshell begins to crumble, and Allura doesn't help, but simply brushes pieces of egg away, plucking the ridged shell from its head, wiping the slime from its nostrils, and soon, a very small, very delicate dragon sits in her palm in place of the egg she had once held. It's warm, but slimy and wet, and it begins to lick itself clean, breathing warmly through its cleared nose.]
Hello... [She says to it, running her thumb along the ridge of its head, and there's a light trilling noise in response.] It's good to finally meet you.

Timeline of Important Events in Canon History:
- Destruction of her homeplanet, Altea, during a war with Zarkon and his Galra Empire, causing the extinction of her species and the death of her father, King Alfor.
- Being woken up from a 10,000 year cryogenic sleep after the Blue Lion of Voltron is discovered by Earthlings.
- Finding the remaining three Lions of Voltron
- Protecting the natives of Arus from a Robeast by forming Voltron
- The infiltration of Sendak and his group into the Castle of Lions where they compromise the crystal which powers the ship, and his later defeat and capture. Keith and Allura are trapped outside of the castle after going to help the local Arusians, and Allura is able to telepathically communicate with her space-mice to help stop the Castle's barrier to allow her and Keith inside.
- Defending the Balmera and its native population from being exploited by the Galra Empire; Allura saves the planet-like animal by expending much of her life force into healing it, despite the fact that such an action could have killed her. Instead, it weakens her, and everyone is saved.
- The Castle-ship becoming corrupted and rebelling against the paladins of Voltron. Shiro releases a cryostatic Sendak after the Caslte triggers his PTSD, Allura nearly directs the Castle into a star going super-nova, and Allura has to destroy the AI of her dead father in order to regain control of the castle.
- The team discovers a Galra hub, and in order to gain information Allura and Shiro infiltrate a Galra ship. They are caught in the process and Allura allows herself to be captured in order to allow Shiro to escape.
- The remaining team rescues Allura from Zarkon, but are easily overpowered by Zarkon and his forces. All of them manage to escape, but the wormhole created malfunctions and the team is separated from each other

Dragon & Magical Element
Elemental Alignment:
- Light - Allura's character seems heavily connected to light, both in the sense that she is literally the last remaining "light" of her people to face the "darkness" that is the Galra empire, and also because Allura essentially sees herself and the Paladins of Voltron as the last light of hope in the galaxy. Light is usually equivocated to hope, and Allura stands firm in having faith and hope that there will be a better tomorrow for the galaxy.
Wind - .Wind seems representative of clarity, but also inner turmoil, and while breezes can be pleasant, gales are large and destructive. Wind epitomizes the nuances of Allura's character, who does possess the gracefulness that wind can possess, but also inner turmoil which can blow over into storm-like anger.
Energy - Allura literally powers the whole Castle-ship in her canon through use of her own life energy known as quintessence, and the only way for the ship to access wormholes is through her life energy. Her energy can also be put on reserve in the Castle-ship so she's basically just a quintessence battery in some respect.
Dragon:
- ADULT SIZE: Allura's dragon will reach the size of a small, 7lb housecat. It will very much be a "Shoulder" dragon, and thus not large enough for her to ride.
DIET: It has a fruit and nectar-based diet (similar to that of a fruit bat).
DESCRIPTION: Allura's dragon could be described as a sort of "fairy dragon." While it's body is lithe and cat-like, it is very much reptilian in design, its scales smooth and fine, opalescent in colour reminiscent of a white opal itself, shifting from white, to light blues, purples, and pinks and orange. It has one pair of wings that are similar in colour, but are sheer and reminiscent of butterfly wings, and glow with bio-luminescence when it's not resting flat against its back. And despite its wings having a rather delicate appearance, the dragon is capable of flight. It has large intelligent eyes that are a brilliant purple in colour, a dynamic long, fox-like snout which always has a relatively serious expression, a pronounced ridge at the top of its head which later forms down its back as short, bumpy spikes all the way down to the edge of its tail which is long and whip-like, almost like a mouse's tail. It has four legs, but instead of claws it has mouse-like paws with five toes, the front paws more dynamic so its able to grip and hold things, either so it can climb onto something or to sit back and eat fruit. And while it is essentially a frugivore, it does possess strong, sharp teeth which can break through even the toughest skin of a fruit.
EGG: The dragon's egg is small and fits easily size-wise in a human's palm, and is shaped similarly to a monarch butterfly egg, that is, ridged and a near perfect circle. It is a delicate white in colour, but its ridges are defined by being dusted with light purple. In the sunlight, it refracts light similarly to an opal.
