[in the past, she'd have reacted much differently than now. before Lotor, before she fully understood Keith and his heritage, she'd have labeled Honerva an enemy outright. not the be trusted, a traitor and a murderer in the making.

but...now things are different. more complicated, less easy to choose between a black and white stance.

an Honerva from the past...from before all of it. when Altea and Daibazaal were both still around.

she shuts her eyes as she listens to Shiro, Platt being a comforting warm presence at her shoulder.]

Does...does she know Zarkon is dead? That Altea and Daibazaal are no more after those ten-thousand years?

[her own voice is strained.]

I will be the one to tell Lotor. He and I...have found a common ground. And Haggar-- Honerva has done too much to you where it would feel wrong to have you be the one to do it.

You most of all need time to process. I...she is not the same person you and I know. But she will be, in our reality. The rest of the team should know, and...it may be best if we don't tell her that she has a son. That is not up to us.

If there is truth in what Lotor told me, she never knew him. Not while she was still Honerva, at least.

She asked how Zarkon was. [He repeats it quietly. He still can’t quite believe it. He’d went back to his room and stood there trying to process.] She is his wife for sure.

The fact I am a former Black Paladin of ten thousand years in her future was, [There’s a soft thud as he sits down heavily on the edge of the bed.] Overwhelming to her.

She has no idea Altea is gone. Or Daibazaal. I changed the subject to bring her up to speed on our situation here. [Well, if Allura wants to talk to Lotor. But he worries about her. This is not an easy situation for her. He wouldn’t suggest Keith for this in a million years. He loves him dearly but this isn’t his problem. Not directly.

And he selfishly needs to lean on him.] ...if you need someone to stand with you when you tell him. I’ll be there. I know she has done so much but. This won’t be easy for you either.

[Telling Lotor his mother is around from before all the shit hit the fan is going to be bad. He scrubs at his face thankful she can’t see his face right now.] I elected not to tell her anything beyond there are Paladins in the future.

I haven’t said anything else. It’s not my place to. And... [His voice returns to that slightly strained tone.] I just can’t. I’ll talk to Keith about it then go through the rest of us.

[it's odd, how hearing Shiro say that about Honerva's reaction draws sympathy from her.

after all. she too had woken to a world completely different from what she remembered, 10,000 years into the future. everyone she had known, had loved...gone.

in a way she wonders if it would be best to approach her. to talk at least about the loss of both Daibazaal and Altea. to keep things vague. but...no. it's too hard. and everything is so raw. at a later time, though, when Lotor is allowed to react and say his part to his mother.]

It won't be easy, for any of us. She is a fellow Altean, one who has done...unspeakable things. But she knew my father, they worked together as alchemists before...everything.

[it's so hard to string words together, but it really is much easier to speak them to Shiro instead of write them out.]

But...I know what it is like, in a way. On her end. To learn about the death of a loved one. To be with them one moment, only for them to be gone the next.

Please Shiro, I want you most of all to do what you need to do. I can handle this.

[He listens to her until the end with his hands clasped together in front of him. He thinks again of how much Allura has endured. Her people are out there and they need to find them. For their sake. For hers.

He wishes they could do more for her. Yes, he needs to handle his own matters but he won’t abandon her on this. That gives him the strength to steady himself and gentle his tone.]

I know how to handle my part. I’ll be alright. ...Just make sure you do what you need to do for you too. You have lost more than I have because of Zarkon and Haggar. [She lost everything.]

If you need time before you approach this. Or need someone afterward, I’m here for you. In my case I just need time to seperate her from...the witch. [The word witch hammers at the inside of his mind. Witch. Every time he has been toyed with. Forced to kill or was changed forever. Always a witch was involved. He sighs.]

...I know you can handle this. I just wish neither of us had to.

Thank you, Shiro. [her smile is bittersweet. again, thankful for his voice, to hear him speak, but that this is only voice so he can't see how truly disturbed she is at all this.] What I lost to her happened over ten-thousand years ago, while I was in cryosleep.

[the fact that what she did to Shiro, something more intimate, more personal, and directly lifechanging to his very being, goes unsaid.

she knows he knows. doesn't want to remind him when this encounter with Honerva did so clearly set him on edge.]

I wish the same. We...there is a lot to get used to, but...once I speak to Lotor, I will come find you. And please know I am here for you as well.

I know you are. We all hold each other up. Paladins and Lions alike. [It's a subtle attempt at a joke. He cracks a small smile but it's good that she can't see his face. He's raw. This had been one hit too many of late.]

I'll be keeping to Keith and I's quarters for a while. If I decide to go anywhere else, I'll let you know.

..you're right there's a lot to get used to. But, we've weathered tough situations before. [One day in the future he will tell her more about how Haggar had controlled his clone...controlled him. The memories are his even if sometimes it doesn't feel like it.]

We'll do it again.
