[She's waiting for him in his room, having received word that the Blade of Marmora will be returning from their mission within the varga. From the report, it had sounded to be a success, and considering it had been weeks since they set out for this mission, it would have been painful to hear it being anything other than a success.
Or to hear of there being casualties.
She's made it no secret that she's been frustrated with Keith's absence. Team Voltron may have found its footing once more, but Allura has not gotten used to the distance. So for every tick he's back on board the Castle, she strives to make the most of it, forgoing meeting him at the bridge and sending him instead a quick and simple message.]
Meet me in your room when you return.
[The others don't know of this. Only some of the Blade seem to, very little gets by a Galran nose, after all, but say nothing. They're a secret sort, and seem to respect it.]
[he has a feeling about what's coming. being lectured at is the last thing he wants right now; the mission was long and difficult enough, with too many close calls for each of them. Keith tries to brush off the rattling in the back of his mind from the last of his - nearly getting spaced - and walks with purpose to the bridge.
it's bad enough that when he greets everyone, he can feel the irritation and tension as they curtly welcome him back, then silently watch him head towards his room. now he also has to steel himself for whatever Allura has to say. he's exhausted but restless and just wants...rest? to blow off steam in the training deck? sleep? video games? some kind of relief...?
usually...that would be Allura. but as his door slides open, he stands a little straighter and sucks in a breath. he wants to see her more than anyone, but...he doesn't want to hear what he knows she'll likely say.
taking his hood down, Keith is grimacing a little. the conflict between being open with her and being guarded against her is pretty clear on his face. still, he stands his ground.]
[He's always on the defensive. She knows this, but still, she frowns as he enters his room, noting the grimace, his want to remain guarded and closed. She wonders what it is about her that gets him like this, and her frown goes softer, brows knit but not in the angry way he may be anticipating.
Her frustration with him being gone is waning now that he's here, and for a moment she looks forlorn.]
I... [As he stands his ground, she relents, moving forward to close the distance he always seems to try to keep with her.] You had been gone for so long.
